Dr.Farooq Sattar announces Rs 100m grant for Municipal works.
MIRPURKHAS: Senior Sindh Minister Dr Farooq Sattar said that a pool of Rs 100 million was beingformed in his ministry to launch a crash development programme in the province. Addressing a pressconference at Circular House here on Monday he announced Rs 10 million grant for Mirpurkhas MunicipalCommittee (MCM) from this pool.
Taking serious notice of imbalance between development and non-development expenditures to municipalcommittees, he said that in the next fiscal year non-development expenditures would be curtailed. He was ofthe view that in the absence of public representatives in municipal institutions the whole municipal structure inthe province including urban and rural areas, has reached at a situation of total destruction.
He hinted that director local bodies, Mirpurkhas, might be placed under suspension on charge of notfollowing prescribed policy. However, he added, a show cause notice was being issue to him. He said,PC-1 for four projects in Mirpurkhas have been selected for approval in the next budget which includeswater supply project at the cost of Rs 100 million, repair of heavy machinery at Public Health EngineeringDepartment, a ladies park and shifting of cattle farms out side the residential areas. He gave 15 days todistrict administration for removal of all road-side encroachments in the city and directed the administrationto cancel the vacations of sanitary staff of MCM.
