Mohammad Hamid, 23 years, son of Anwaar Hussain,
resident of House No. C-329, Korangi 5-1/2, Karachi, a worker of MQM Unit 74, Sector
Korangi. At around 6 p.m., the personnel of CIA Police of Korangi Industrial Area Police
Station, raided his house in search of his brother Mohammad Asif. In the absence of Asif
they arrested Mohammad Hamid.
At around 4.30 a.m., the personnel of Korangi Police Station in plain clothes raided the house of Sajjad Khan son of Iqrar Khan, resident of House No. 310, Sector 35-A, Gulshan Mohammadi, Korangi 3-1/2, Karachi, a worker of MQM Unit 77, Sector Korangi. In his absence they ransacked the house and misbehaved with the family members.

Liaquat Ahmed, 25 years, son of Mohammad Ali
Ahmed, resident of House No. 352, Sector 48/A, Korangi No. 1-1/2, Karachi, a worker of MQM
Unit 75, Sector Korangi. At around 11 p.m., the personnel of Zaman Town Police Station
arrested him while he was sitting at the Election of MQM. It is learnt that a false FIR
(First Information Report) has been registered against him.

FIFTEEN (15) YEARS OLD MQM SYMPATHISER DANISH OF LINES AREA, KARACHI RUTHLESSLY MURDERED
BY THE HAQIQI TERRORISTS UNDER THE PROTECTION OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES
On 21 January 1997, at around 3.30 p.m.,
the terrorists of Haqiqi Group (Akhtar alias Nannah, Iqbal Hasan alias Guddu Preshani,
Shahid, Jamal Uddin, Sajid alias Tunki, Tariq alias Langra, Faizu alias Langra etc.)
under the protection of the law enforcement
agencies opened indiscriminate fire in Lines Area to harass and intimidate the residents
to stop the support of the MQM in the
forthcoming General Elections. As a result of this heavy firing an MQM sympathiser Danish,
aged 15 years, son of Mazhar, residing
at Apartment No. 4/4, Block-Q, Jacob Lines Housing Project, Lines Area, Karachi, a
sympathiser of MQM Unit 52, Sector Lines Area, who was standing in his balcony, was
seriously injured. He received bullet shots in his abdomen and was immediately taken to
Jinnah Hospital, Karachi, but the medical staff at the Hospital blatantly refused to admit
him, therefore, he was taken to Civil
Hospital, Karachi, where due to the delay and inapt medical treatment, he succumbed to his
injuries.

Mohammad Afzal, 22 years, son of Roshan Ali
Rajput, resident of NED University Hostel, Karachi, a worker of MQM Unit 163, Sector
Liaquatabad. At around 10 p.m., while he was returning from the Election Office of an MQM
candidate, the personnel of Liaquatabad Police Station arrested him along with two other
workers of MQM.

Mohammad Hanif, 24 years, son of Mohammad Habib,
resident of Irani Camp, Orangi Town, Karachi, a sympathiser of MQM Unit 124, Sector Orangi
Town. At around 11.30 a.m., an Armoured Personnel Carried (APC No. 956) arrested him while
he was on his way to work.

Syed Alamdar Hussain Shah, 16 years, son of Syed
Azam Ali Shah, resident of F-A61/5 Federal Capital Area, Karachi, a worker of MQM Unit
157, Sector Liaquatabad. At around 3 a.m., the personnel of Sharifabad Police Station
raided his house and arrested him. When the family members enquired about the reasons of
his arrest, they were answered that he has been implicated in the murder of Shehzad, a
Haqiqi terrorists.
The personnel of Korangi Police Station raided the house of Irfan Ullah son of Aman Ullah, resident of House No. 339, 32-E, Nasir Colony, Korangi, Karachi. In his absence they ransacked the house and beat up the family members present in the house.
At around 6 p.m., the Haqiqi terrorists namely, Qayyum, Farhat, Shahab, Nasir, Abid and Mullah, under the protection of Law Enforcement Agencies opened indiscriminate fire in Liaquatabad to harass and terrorise the area residents.
At around 3 p.m., the nominated candidates of MQM for Quetta
City, namely, Mr. Siddique Kurd, Mohammad Rashid and Jehangir Hussain were arrested along
with 200 workers of MQM who were accompanying them, by the DSP Dastageer and SHO Ashfaq
Jamal while they were returning back after the opening of their Election Office.

Raees Siddiqui, 17 years, son of Shafique Ahmed
Siddiqui, resident of House No. 323, 32-E, Nasir Colony, Korangi, Karachi, a sympathiser
of MQM Unit 69, Sector Korangi. At around
3 a.m., the personnel of Zaman Town Police Station raided the
house of Shafique Ahmed Siddiqui, a member of MQM Elders
Committee. In his absence they arrested his son Raees Siddiqui and immediately subjected
him to torture.
The Haqiqi terrorists have ransacked the house of Mr. Haroon Siddiqui, nominated candidate of MQM for the Sindh Provincial Assembly. They have forcibly took possession of the house and are now harassing and terrorising the area residents who have welcomed Mr. Haroon Siddiqui on his return from the prison to his home to start his election campaign.
At around 3 p.m., the nominated candidate of MQM for PS-4, Mr. Mohammad Umer Khokhar, was returning home after opening a election office in Gharibabad. When he reached Sheikh Mohallah, the terrorists of Pakistan Peoples Party led by their nominated candidates attacked the rally and beat up the people accompanying Mr. Khokhar. These terrorists were led by Ghulam Mustafa, ex MPA and Iqbal Meerani. When Mr. Khokhar approached the Police Station to lodge an FIR against the terrorists he was shocked to know that instead of registering their FIR the SHO of Pannu Aqil Police Station had already lodged an FIR against the MQM candidate on the instructions of PPP office bearers over the phone. Later the terrorists of Pakistan Peoples Party completely ransacked the MQM Election Office at Gharibabad. Those who were injured are: Akbar Ali, Mujahid Hussain, Mushtaq and Ashfaq.

Akbar, 18 years, son of Sultan, residing near
Brigade Police Station, brother of an MQM worker of Unit 53, Sector Lines Area. At around
3 p.m., the personnel of Brigade Police Station raided the house of Ikram, an MQM worker.
In his absence they arrested his cousin Akbar, who had came to visit the family of Ikram.

1 Haider Ali, 27 years, son of Mohammad Ehsan,
resident of A-738, Sharif Colony, Landhi, Karachi, a worker of MQM Unit 82,
Sector Landhi. 2 Mohammad Khalid, 28 years, son of Mohammad Ismail, resident of
H-102, Sarfraz Colony, Landhi No. 1, Karachi, a worker of MQM Unit 89, Sector Landhi.
They were sitting at the Election Office of Mr. Haroon
Siddiqui, nominated candidate of MQM, when the Haqiqi terrorists attacked
at the office and opened heavy fire. Haider Ali and Khalid along with others were severely
injured.
Peer Bakhsh, 70 years, son of Mangal Khan, resident of Jhughi Gali No. 9, Nabina School, Landhi, Karachi, a sympathiser of MQM Unit 82, Sector Landhi. In the early hours he was going to say his prayers at the mosque when he was severely injured due to the heavy indiscriminate firing of the Haqiqi terrorists.

Mohammad Ilyas, 23 years, son of Liaquat Ali,
resident of Kuti Pahari, Orangi Town 11-1/2, Karachi, a sympathiser of MQM Unit 119,
Sector Orangi. He came to attend the rally of MQM but was arrested on his way by an
Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC No. 957) of Orangi Extension Police Station.

Mohammad Akram, 24 years, son of Ahmed Khan,
resident of R-625/15-A, Bufferzone, North Karachi, Karachi, an office bearer of MQM Unit
133, Sector North Karachi. He was arrested by the personnel of New Karachi Police Station.

Mohammad Shahid, 16 years, son of Manzoor Ahmed,
resident of House No. 614, Mohammadi Chowk, Sector 11, Orangi
Town, Karachi, brother of an MQM worker of Unit 120, Sector Orangi Town. At around 2 a.m.,
the personnel of Orangi Extension
Police Station raided his house in search of his brother Babar. In his absence they
arrested his brother Mohammad Shahid and
threatened the family to produce Babar at the Police Station for the release of Mohammad
Shahid.

Syed Akmal Shah, 15 years, son of Syed Anwar
Shah, resident of House No. 3, Raghwa Street, Ramswamy, Karachi, a sympathiser of MQM Unit
28, Sector Ranchore Line. The personnel of Nabi Bux Police Station led by SHO Haider Ali,
ASI
Zafar and Imtaiz along with 12 others (in a Police Mobile No. 252) raided the Election
Office of MQM in Ranchore Lines. They
beat up the people who were sitting in the Election Office with rifle butts and kicked
them. Syed Akmal Shah was particularly
tortured severely. These personnel of Police ransacked the entire office and threatened
the persons present not to open the
Office again.
