We believe in humanity and cannot support murders of innocent people for any reason News Report The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the murder of anyone, whether a Shia or a Sunni, is highly condemnable and the elements killing innocent people on their being Shia or Sunni are killing the humanity. He said that such elements were not worthy of being called human beings let alone Muslims. He was talking to members of the Co-ordination Committee at Nine Zero. Mr Hussain deplored sectarian bloodshed in Karachi and expressed grief and sorrow at the loss of lives. He said that religion and particular set of beliefs were personal issues for an individual, and the MQM had always preached people about following their own beliefs without meddling with the beliefs and religious sensibilities of others. Mr Hussain said that respect should be shown to the followers of all the beliefs, and it should always be borne in mind that the murder of a person was the murder of entire humanity irrespective of his colour, race, persuasion, or religion. He said, “We believe in the humanity and cannot support the shedding of innocent blood for any reason.” Mr Hussain said, “We must endeavour as human beings to protect the life and property of other people in every possible manner. We staunchly believe in unity among Muslims and inter-faith harmony. We follow these precepts, and we are always preaching it.” Mr Hussain directed the MQM units to work for foiling the conspiracy to ignite sectarian strife in their respective areas. He asked them to appeal to the Shia and Sunni people in their areas to remain united and not get provoked by rumours. He asked the local office-bearers of the MQM to hold meetings Imams and Zakirin in their areas and appeal to them to play their role for maintaining sectarian harmony. Mr Hussain said that even though some elements were trying to spark sectarian strife by killing Shia and Sunni people, but it was heartening that the people at large were exhibiting complete unity. He made a passionate appeal to the made to remain united at every cost and show respect to each other. Mr Hussain prayed for the people who fell victim in the incidents of targeted killings. He also prayed for the speedy recovery and well-being of the injured.
