Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee’s Member Raza Haroon has said that the conspiracy hatched by terrorists to keep Pakistan’s liberal, moderate and enlightened parties away from general elections is aimed at facilitating reactionary forces’ occupation in the country.
Speaking at a grand public meeting at Tando Allahyar’s Al-Rahim Garden, the MQM leader said that terrorists were openly threatening three major political parties of the country – MQM, PPP and ANP – so that these progressive and enlightened parties refrain from taking part in the elections.
The meeting was largely attended by Haq Parast mothers, sisters, elders, youths and people belonging to different walks of life. Haq Parast candidate for National Assembly, Sajid Wahab Khanzada, candidates for Sindh Assembly (PS-52) Maqbool Hussain and PS-51 Haq Nawaz Kaimkhani, Sindh Tanzeemi Committee’s members Ghulam Rasool Sammo, Siraj Rajput and MQM Tando Allahyar’s Zonal In-charge Mohammad Ali, were also present on the occasion.
Mr Haroon deplored that although the terrorists have been frequently targeting candidates and workers of MQM, PPP and the ANP, the Election Commission of Pakistan, the caretaker government and the law-enforcement agencies were playing a role of silent spectators.
Condemning the brutal killings of MQM’s Nazimabad-Gulbahar Sector (Unit-181) worker, Adil and the ANP candidate for NA-254, Sadiq Zaman Khattak and his son, the other day, he said that it is since the announcement of election schedule, the terrorists have been creating hurdles for the liberal, moderate and enlightened political parties while PML-N, JUI-F, Jamaat-i-Islami and Tehrek-i-Insaf, have been allowed to freely hold their election rallies.
He said that it was that the parties which are freely organizing their election rallies were neither condemning terrorist attacks frequently taking place in Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa nor bothering to express their sympathies with the families of victims and the affected people.
Mr Haroon, however, declared that although MQM was being stopped from taking part in the polls, the party would not be cowed and participate in the May 11 polls.
He said that the Haq Parasts’ struggle for the country’s oppressed and suppressed people’s constitutional, legal and basic rights would continue under the able leadership of MQM chief Altaf Hussain and the party would never bow before terrorists.
He hoped that the conscious people would, Insha Allah, elect MQM candidates in the ensuing polls, thereby inflicting heavy defeat to the terrorists and those patronizing them.
The meeting was also addressed by Haq Parast candidates for National and Sindh assemblies.
Later, the participants of the meeting offered prayers for MQM’s Nazimabad-Gulbahar Sector’s worker, Adlil, who was brutally killed by terrorists in Paposh Nagar on Friday.
