ON ENDING THE CONFRONTRATION THROUGH BRINKMANSHIP – ALTAF HUSSAIN

Mr Altaf Hussain, Founder and Leader of
Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has termed the resolution of the ongoing standoff
on the appointments of judges between the government and judiciary welcoming. He
added it was the view of the MQM from the outset that confrontation and
collision was never in the interest of the country, democracy and the system and
its amicable solution was the only way forward. He further said that the
announcement made by the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani today after the
meeting with the Chief Justice on the appointments of judges extremely
appreciable and the end of the on-going confrontation for the past few days was
in the larger interests of the country and nation, government and democratic
system and indeed must have provided a sigh of relief to the people.
Mr Altaf Hussain said that path of reconciliation and understanding is in the greater interests of the country, system and democracy. He congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minster Yousuf Raza Gilani and the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry for resolving the crisis with brinkmanship. He also congratulated the other judges, justices, lawyers’ fraternity, political workers and the nation and hoped that all issues in future would be settled amicably.
