Mr
Altaf
Hussain
, MQM Founder & Leader, has assured the people of
Pakistan
that we are not against the poor and middle-class people of
Punjab
. He said that we
want to free the deprived people of Sindh, Balochistan, NWFP and of
Punjab
from the medieval feudal system.
He invited the poor and middle-class people of
Punjab
to come forward and struggle alongside the people of Sindh,
Balochistan and NWFP to save
Pakistan
. He was
addressing a huge public gathering organised by the MQM United Kingdom Unit in
London
. MQM workers and
supporters residing in
London
,
Birmingham
and
Manchester
attended the rally. In
his address Mr Hussain reflected upon feudal system, sense of deprivation in
smaller provinces, geopolitical situation of Pakistan, character of religious
and political parties and the problems faced by the poor and middle-class
citizens.
Mr
Hussain
said that it is the irony of fate that those who sacrificed
for the creation of
Pakistan
have been labelled as “traitors.
Late G M Syed, who voted and passed the resolution in favour for the
creation of
Pakistan
, was labelled as “traitor”.
The Muslims of Bengal fully supported the Muslim League for the creation
of
Pakistan
but they too were termed as “traitors”.
When the Muslims of Muslim Minority Provinces of the Subcontinent, who
sacrificed their lives and worldly possessions for the creation of
Pakistan
, demanded their rights, they were also labelled as
“traitors”. Whereas, the people
of
Punjab
Province
, where the Muslim League faced defeat and the Unionist
Party, loyal to the British Raj, formed the Government are proudly labelled as
“loyal to the country”.
Mr
Hussain
said that to disagree is a democratic right of everyone and
the democratic minded people should respect criticism.
However, based on disagreement, branding someone as traitor, anti-State
or security risk in no way to serve the interest of the nation or the country.
He quoted a few reports of certain newspapers and periodicals, which
label him as traitor, anti-State and agent of
Israel
and
India
.
Mr
Hussain
said that it was made impossible for him and his companions
to survive in the motherland and today he along with hundreds of his companions
are living in exile. He said that in
the Hamoodur Rehman Commission Report, those Generals found responsible for the
break-up of the country were not punished and today they proudly walk around in
the country. He said that different
accusations were and are being levelled against him.
He said that if these allegations had been true then the after 11 years
of State Operation, the people would not have continued to support him and the
MQM. He said that his biggest crime
was that he refused to be one of the Establishment and tow their policies.
On several occasions, the Establishment attempted to buy him off, but he
refused to trade his conscience, his mission and cause.
He said that he refused such offers because he is not struggling for
personal gains but for the attainment of the rights of the poor and middle-class
people of the country. He said that
during his meetings with the Presidents and Prime Minister, he had always put
forward the problems faced by the public.
Mr
Hussain
claimed that his only crime is that he speaks and struggle
for the abolishment of the medieval feudal system.
It is the political culture of
Pakistan
that one brother is in a political party; the other in
another political party, the third one in some other political party and the
fourth one is in the Army. Therefore,
whichever political party comes into power or Martial Law is enforced; such
families always win. Through such
manipulations, for the past 55 years, families of a few feudals and waderas have
been ruling the country, whereas the poor and oppressed people are not only
deprived of their basic rights but also of the right to rule.
The country’s Establishment and the Army Generals are the protectors of
this medieval feudal system; therefore, they are against us because we want the
eradication of the medieval feudal system. A few people portray the impression
that he is against the Army, which is totally baseless.
He said that he is not against the Army, however, he is against the
corrupt Army Generals who protect the feudal system.
Mr
Hussain
said that the smaller provinces are deprived of their
rights; Sindh is thirst for water and has been made a colony of the
Establishment. The people of
Balochistan are deprived of their right to rule, as in Sindh the police and
administration is being imported from
Punjab
.
Mr
Hussain
said that we are not against the poor and oppressed people
of
Punjab
, they are our brothers, we want to free them from oppression
and injustices of the medieval feudal system.
Unfortunately, the Establishment in collusion with the feudals have
influenced the mentality of the poor people of
Punjab
into believing that only they are true Pakistanis and the
rest are “traitors” thus making them the enemy of the people of other
provinces. Addressing the people of
Punjab
,
Mr
Hussain
invited them to come forward and struggle to save
Pakistan
and bring an end to the medieval feudal system alongside
other nationalities and communities.
Mr
Hussain
said that at present the geopolitical situation of the
region is grim and unfortunately
Pakistan
does not enjoy cordial relationship with its neighbours
including
India
,
Iran
,
Afghanistan
and
China
. In such
circumstances, it is necessary to promote cultural pluralism, which could only
be achieved when all the ethno-linguistic units are treated equally.
Mr
Hussain
said that no geography could sustain as long as the
inhabitants of that geography are not treated equitably.
Mr
Hussain
said that we have presented a formula for the sustenance of
Pakistan
, which is to provide full provincial autonomy to the
provinces according to the spirit of the 1940 Resolution.
He said that we do not take away the rights of others, however, we would
never accept the colonisation of Sindh and Balochistan by the Establishment.
He categorically stated that we do not want confrontation with anyone, we
want to peacefully attain our rights, we are not against Armed Forces or the
Intelligence Agencies, we want them to divert their attention towards the
defence of country’s borders and stop conspiring against the MQM.
The people of Sindh have awakened and are uniting on a common platform.
We would certainly bring about revolution first in Sindh, then in
Balochistan and then in every nook and corner of the country that which is
inevitable and unstoppable.
In
the end
Mr
Hussain
lauded the efforts of the MQM UK office bearers and workers
for organising a beautiful gathering and also thanked the participants for
attending the rally.
