Karachi 23
September 2001
The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) to organise a huge rally in
Karachi, on 26 September 2001, against terrorism and to show its
solidarity with the international community. The decision
was made at Nine Zero, the MQM Head Office in Karachi, during a
meeting of the MQM Coordination Committee, presided by MQM Deputy
Convenor, Ms Nasreen Jalil. A resolution was unanimously
adopted, condemning the terrorist attacks on different cities of
the Untied States of America and expressing full sympathies to
the American people over the loss of thousands of lives.
The present internal and regional situation of the country was
also discussed in detail. At this crucial moment, the
international community was once again offered the unconditional
and fullest cooperation of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM).
It was reiterated during the meeting that the MQM is a peace-loving political party, believes in democratic struggle and is against all sorts of terrorism. To show its solidarity with the international community, the MQM Coordination Committee decided to hold, Rally Against Terrorism in Karachi on 26 September 2001, with the participation of the people of Karachi and entire Sindh Province. The Rally Against Terrorism will start from Liaquatabad No 10 and will end at Regal Chowk Saddar in Karachi. The MQM Coordination Committee has appealed to the workers and the public to participate in this Rally and show the entire world that they stand united and are against all sorts of terrorism.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Members of MQM Coordination Committee was held at the MQM International Secretariat in London, which was presided by Dr Imran Farooq, MQM Convenor. They fully agreed with the decision of Rally Against Terrorism on 26 September 2001.
Several committees have been formulated in Karachi and London to organise the peaceful Rally Against Terrorism.

Government should allow us to
organise rallies against terrorism Altaf Hussain
Mr Hussain said that the so-called religious
and jihadi organisations have been activated to hold
demonstrations and rallies by the Establishment to hoodwink the
public in the name of Islam. When the government has
allowed the religious organisations to take out processions then
it should also allow everyone to exercise its democratic right to
protest in favour or against any issue. And, therefore, the
government should allow us to organise rallies against terrorism.............Full Story
