MQM RELIEF ACTIVITIES ENTERED INTO ITS FOURTH DAY IN AMERICA

New Jersey – 16 September 2001

Relief activities of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Overseas USA Unit continued for the forth consecutive day in New Jersey, New York, Detroit and Washington DC.  A relief camp was established in New Jersey for the collection of relief goods.  Large number of MQM workers and supporters in New Jersey voluntarily participated in the collection of relief goods.  Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, MQM Deputy Convenor, organised and inspected the relief activities of the MQM New Jersey Relief Camp.  He headed the delegation, which went to the Mayor Jim McGreevy Office in New Jersey to deliver the relief items on behalf of the MQM.  Mr Charles, Mayor’s Assistant, had earlier requested for these relief goods.  These relief items were deposited at a camp established at the Mayor’s Office by Senator Lautenberg.  Moreover, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui remained in contact with the American Red Cross and once again offered MQM’s services in the relief activities.  The representatives of the American Red Cross lauded the efforts of the MQM.

In Detroit, the MQM office bearers, workers and supporters remained busy in relief activities.  They are busy in the campaign to register the names of those who are volunteering to give blood.  The MQM representatives have appealed to all the American Asians to come forward to assist and help their American brothers in this time of need.
