London 13 September 2001
Mr
Altaf Hussain, Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM),
has termed the honourable acquittal of Dr
Farooq Sattar in the Octroi Case as the
victory of righteousness. He said that every single person
of the city is aware that Dr
Farooq Sattar is a decent, honest and sincere person,
however, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Court,
established by the present Military Government, sentenced him for
fourteen (14) years while declaring him ineligible for
participation in General Elections for twenty-one (21) years to
tarnish the image of the MQM. Mr Hussain said
that the decision of the Lahore High Court has proved the
innocence of Dr Farooq Sattar. With this
decision it has been once again proved that all such allegations
levelled by the Establishment against the MQM and its leaders, to
tarnish its image worldwide, are malafide, concocted and baseless.
Mr Hussain extended his commendations and praises to all the
workers and the public on the honourable acquittal of Dr
Farooq Sattar.
Mr
Altaf Hussain also highly praised Dr
Farooq Sattar for his resolve, fortitude and
determination from the time of his arrest and during his illegal
detention. He also praised the courage and determination
displayed by Dr
Farooq Sattars family. Mr Altaf Hussain also
specially thanked and paid tribute to Dr Abdul Basit and his
associates for effectively representing Dr
Farooq Sattar.
