KARACHI: Expressing deep concerns and reservations over the targeted killing in Karachi, MQM demanded of the Prime Minister, President, advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior Affairs , Sindh Governor , Sindh Chief Minister to arrest the killers of MQM workers and specially the workers Ahmed Hussain and Mohammed Frahan and they be awarded stern punishment.
This was stated by MQM provincial Minister and a Member of the Central Co-ordination Committee Mr.Shoaib Bukhari during a hurriedly called Press Conference here at Khursheed Memorial Hall on Thursday, 30 October 2008. He said that MQM is a peace loving party and its silence over the killings should not be considered as weakness.
Mr. Shoaib Bukhari claimed that a sectarian group is involved in targeted killings. He said that party workers have been advised not to get provoked over the targeted killings, be patient and exercise total restraints since MQM is in negotiations with coalition partner to take notice and bring these unlawful killings to halt.
Mr. Shoaib Bukhari said that 9 MQM workers have been the victim of target killings and scores have been injured during the past 15 days. The Provincial Minister noted with concern that target killing has increased during fortnight and it is because that MQM has raised its voice against Talibanisation of Karachi and this is the reason that a sectarian group was busy in Target Killings and making innocent citizens target for killing. He claimed that the only aim of target killing is to ensure forcible occupation of Karachi by Talibans.
Replying to a question that they are coalition partners and had they made any contact with Sindh Home Minister Mr. Zulfiquar Mirza, he said that Mr. Waseem Aftab, Member of the Co-ordination Committee and Mr. Raza Haroon, I.T. Minister are in meeting with Mr. Zulfiquar Mirza and Police functionaries over these killings and law and order situation.
Mr. Shoaib Bukhari gave the details of the killings of the 9 workers in the past 15 days started since 16th. October 2008.
