THE VICE CHANCELLORS AND
ADMINISTRATIONS OF KARACHI UNIVERSITY,
DOW UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND SINDH MEDICAL COLLEGE FREE
THE GIRLS COMMON ROOMS FROM “BURQA BRIGADE” IMMEDIATELY – ALTAF HUSSAIN
London-28
October 2008
Mr Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) expressed his serious concerns on a disturbing news item published in a reputable local English language newspaper outlining the kicking out, haranguing and degradingly treating girl students not wearing “burqa” and forcibly occupying Girls Common Rooms at Karachi University, Dow Medical University of Sciences and Sindh Medical College by the girls of “Burqa Brigade” belonging to religious parties aligned with Al-Qaeda and Pakistani Talibans.
Mr Altaf Hussain said that girls not wearing burqa are degradingly treated, harangued and even proscribed from going to the Girls Common Rooms where they go to relax for a few minutes after arduous lectures’. He demanded of the Vice Chancellors and Administrations of the above mentioned universities and educational institutions’ to free the Girls Common Rooms from the illegal occupation of “Burqa Brigades” which is also a prima facie evidence of their indifference on this serious matter.
