U.S and British Diplomats did
not advice the MQM about the
return of Benazi Bhutto- Dr. Imran Farooq
London 10th October, 2007
Dr.
Imran Farooq, the convenor of the Central Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida
Quami Movement (MQM) has categorically denied the report published in a UK
newspaper and a section of Pakistan press stating that MQM had been advised by
British and American Diplomats to show restraint when PPP chairperson Benazir
Bhutto return to Karachi.
Dr.
Imran Farooq said that no contact was made with MQM by American and British
Diplomats in this regard and the published report is totally baseless. He said
that MQM welcome the return of Benazir Bhutto just after her announcement to
return to Pakistan. He stated that this decision was taken by the Central
Co-ordination Committee of MQM.
Dr. Imran Farooq said that it on record that during the last five years, being
in the Government, MQM never created any hindrance in political activities of
any political party including its opposition political parties. All the
political parties had complete freedom to carry out their peaceful political
activities in Sindh and its Capital Karachi.
He further pointed out that the MQM is a peaceful, liberal and Democratic Party and such baseless reports are published just to malign the image of the MQM nationally and internationally.
