Mr. Altaf Hussain, Founder and Leader of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) congratulated President elect Honourable Senator Barack Obama, his entire team, people of the USA and Democratic Party on the historical victory of Honourable Senator Barack Obama in the Presidential elections of the United States of America and said that it was a great victory against racism.
In his statement Mr. Hussain said that victory of President Elect Honourable Senator Barack Obama is a irrefutable proof of the elimination of ethnicity, fascism and racism. He further said that people of Pakistan should learn lesson and rise above the prejudices of race, geographical boundaries based on ethnicity and religion and strive for the security, prosperity of Pakistan and welfare of its people. Mr. Hussain said that while racism was at its height in America, the black people were treated as slaves but, today American people have elected Honourable Senator Barack Obama as a President of the USA and have proved that they were proud of their American nationalism instead of stigmatised with racism and colour.
Mr. Altaf Hussain said that restiveness is increasing in Pakistan due to racism and ethnicity and one nation concept was going the weakest. He added that we should come out from the shell of prejudice and ethnicity and like American citizens should struggle to be a strong nation, promote democracy, respect for humanity and eliminate racism. He further stated that we also should free ourselves from the curse of racism and numerical majority and accept all citizen of Pakistan as equal citizens to strengthen one nation concept.
