MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain while commenting on the “imposition of emergency” has stated that no political party can express pleasure and the MQM also regrets this decision. He demanded of the President General Pervez Musharraf to lift the emergency as soon as possible and restore the Constitution. Addressing the people of Pakistan Mr Hussain said that they should closely examine the reason behind the imposition of emergency. He said that certain judges belonging to the judiciary, a group of lawyers and certain elements of media should not have exceeded their rights, traditions and etiquettes; and they should not have adopted biased and prejudicial attitude. Mr Hussain said that for the past 60 years, be it a democratic government or martial law rule – in every rule of government no head of government or military ruler can absolve himself of taking extra-constitutional decisions. Mr Hussain said that MQM is the only political party of Pakistan which has held the medieval feudal system, prevalent for the past 60 years, responsible of all the ills and extra-constitutional steps in the country and believes that the increasing religious extremism and the rise of suicidal attacks is a direct result of this medieval system. Mr Hussain reiterated that the MQM stands firmly on this stand even today that until and unless the people of the country get united on one platform to struggle for the abolishment of the medieval feudal system, to establish the rule of poor and middleclass and to establish and promote democracy in the country – the politics of personal interests will continue and the system of justice cannot be established in the country.
