Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr. Altaf Hussain has welcomed the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, US Deputy Secretary of State Christina Rocca and other leaders from the international community to Pakistan.
Mr. Altaf Hussain said that United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan is practically taking stock of the damage caused by the earthquake and its victims. On behalf of crores of Muttahida Quami Movement supporters and my self I would like to offer special thanks for the numerous appeals Mr. Annan has made to the international leaders to provide relief goods and help in reconstruction and rehabilitation. He also thanked Christina Rocca, Condoleeza Rice and other foreign leaders who have come to Pakistan to personally asses the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake and its victims.
Mr. Altaf Hussain said that the announcement of the pledge of additional 70 Million Pounds by the British Government, he considered as a positive step for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the victims. Mr. Altaf Hussain said that all countries should come up with maximum aid most speedily because snow fall and cold weather is settling in the affected areas. If the people are not provided aid in time there is a danger of loss of more precious lives. Mr. Altaf Hussain has appealed to all National and international leaders and corporate heads participating in the 19th November donor conference at the invitation of president General Pervez Musharraf to provide solid, practical and concrete help for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the victims.
