LARKANA: Founder and leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain has said that the country was liberated in 1947 but the people of this country are still in the clutches of Jagirdars and Waderas.
Addressing an aid distribution programme of the ‘Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation of the Muttahida, arranged by the party’s Larkana Zonal Office on Wednesday, Altaf Hussain said only feudal were benefited from the creation of Pakistan and not the downtrodden people.
Altaf Hussain strongly criticised the opposition for its double standards and said that they created commotion and noise in the assembly, but the same time they were enjoying all perks in the House. He added that they were also enjoying powers in the NWFP and Balochistan, they boycotted the assembly but enjoyed rule through their Nazims and councillors.
He said: "If the opposition follows any principles in politics they should have resigned from the government in the NWFP and Balochistan, asked their Nazims and councillors to resign and if they have courage they should chant slogan ‘go Army go;’ in stead of ‘go Musharraf go.’
Altaf Hussain added that the opposition should also get a resolution passed that cases would be lodged against those who imposed martial law or supported it, whether they were alive or dead. He said that late Bhutto also supported the martial law of Ayub Khan and became a minister. Almost all the political parties remained in support of martial law, he said and added if the PPP had love for Bhutto they must vow to punish those who were responsible for the execution of Bhutto.
Altaf Hussain said if the opposition did not like the LFO or Musharraf they should resign from their seats rather than boycotting the assembly.
After the address of Altaf Hussain, the aid was distributed among the poor that included wheelchairs, bicycles, sewing machines and other articles of daily use. Shaikh Liaquat, Naeem Ishtiaq, Shabbir Qaimi and other local bodies of Muttahida were present an the occasion.
