TAKE ACTION AGAINST
THE GROWING TALIBANISATION IN KARACHI, THEIR ACTIVITIES AND
THE AWAMI NATIONAL PARTY (ANP) THAT IS PROVIDING SUPPORT AND
PROTECTION TO THE TALIBANS – MQM COORDINATION COMMITTEE DEMANDS
OF THE CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF AND I.S.I. CHIEF
Karachi – 10th May 2009
The MQM Central Coordination in a statement issued has demanded of the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kyani and the ISI Chief General Shuja Pasha to take action against the growing Talibanisation in Karachi, their activities and the Awami National Party (ANP) that is providing support and protection to the Talibans. Not only is the ANP leaders are involved in providing protection and support to the Talibans in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, but also a few high officials of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh Government are also colluding with the ANP. They are receiving their share from the land mafia, drug mafia and arms dealers and openly supporting them. Details of this conspiracy were presented to the President Asif Ali Zardari in a meeting with MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain in London on 3rd May 2009. However, despite all the assurances from the President of Pakistan the activities of land grabbing, drug trafficking and arms dealing continues unabated and there appears no one to stop them. The high officials of PPP in Sindh Government are working in collusion with the criminal elements and even the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari appears not able to break this nexus. It is quite evident from the fact that on the demand of ANP, the Sindh Government has announced a public holiday on 12th May, whereas, the ANP bravados did not show the same courage and enthusiasm in the Province of NWFP where not only the ANP leaders and workers were attacked upon but also several of its leaders and workers have been killed in these attacks. On the one hand the ANP has not held a single protest over these incidents and its all the top leadership has cowardly kept silent, whereas, on the other hand, all their bravery and valour is being demonstrated in Sindh in general and Karachi in particular. Furthermore, they are being encouraged and supported by a few high officials of the PPP Sindh Government, which is beyond MQM and every learned person. The MQM Coordination Committee said that the PPP has been trying to make gains as a result of our peaceful policy and have formed a nexus with the leaders of the criminal elements within the ANP. This nexus is being used to promote Talibans and criminal elements in Sindh and particularly Karachi and also leading to the break-up of the country, whereas, MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain and his followers are wholeheartedly occupied day and night in saving Pakistan.
The MQM Coordination Committee informed the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kyani and the ISI Chief General Shuja Pasha that if they will not intervene to check the criminal activities then Sindh and particularly Karachi too will become a safe-heaven for the terrorists and then the Government will be left with no option but to enter into a deal with the terrorists. The MQM Coordination Committee assured that each and every worker of the MQM will continue to struggle against the Talibans, land mafia and drug mafia and will not hesitate to offer their lives to fail their conspiracy of occupying Sindh and Karachi and to defeat any such conspiracy hatched by a few elements of the PPP and the ANP. If the present Sindh Government will not part its ways with the criminal elements of the ANP then the elected members of the MQM will come out of the Federal and Provincial Governments. The MQM Coordination Committee reiterated that MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain is the only political leader of the country who has come forward to pay tributes to the Pakistan Armed Forces on their courageous stand and also mobilising the public to support the Army in its action against the terrorists, whereas, no other political leader or a political party is playing this role as they are more concerned to make more and more wealth for themselves and their families.
The MQM Coordination Committee reminded that when we speak of independence of judiciary then we must also remember that that the MQM filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court in 1994, which has been put in the waste-bin and is pending hearing. This constitutional petition was filed by Barrister Dr Farooq Hassan in the Supreme Court on behalf of the MQM.
The MQM Coordination Committee again reminded that 13 MQM workers were brutally murdered in 12th May 2007 and hundreds were injured. Their details were presented to the nation by MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain in an open letter to the people of Pakistan. We are once again presenting their list for reference:

The MQM Coordination Committee said that 13 MQM workers were murdered by ANP terrorists on 12th May 2007 but the Government failed to take any action against them. However, the Sindh Government under pressure of ANP has announced a public holiday on 12th May. The massacre at the hands of ANP terrorists of 14th December 1986 at Aligarh where hundreds of Urdu Speaking were brutally murdered, similarly the massacres of 31st October 1986 and Sohrab Goth Karachi, 30th September 1988 in Hyderabad, bloodshed of Urdu Speaking after the murder of Benazir Bhutto on 27th December 2007; should also be remembered and these days should be observed as Day of Mourning and to announce these as public holidays to pay respect to the innocent people who lost their lives. There are thousands of other incidents as well that can be quoted such as Khwaja Ajmer Nagri, North Karachi, Jalalabad, Green Town and Shah Faisal Colony where the ANP terrorists in collusion with the drug peddlers under the patronage of the then Government carried out massacres of MQM workers and supporters – then should we demand to observe these incidents also as public holidays.
