Muttahida’s development package includes 35 projects

KARACHI: The members of the Sindh Assembly from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement have declared that under the Muttahida Development Package, more than 35 major projects were being developed with the special development funds allocated for the MPAs.
Senior Sindh Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed told newsmen at a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Thursday that the development package proved the sincerity of the party in resolving the problems of the citizens.
Sardar Ahmed said the Muttahida believed that politics without service was an act of hypocrisy and party chief Altaf Hussain wanted to improve the living condition of the people both in the urban and the rural areas.
He said that under the development package, eight projects were being initiated in the health sector, 15 in education, three in communications, and one each in sewerage, water supply and entertainment sectors in Karachi while projects were also initiated in Hyderabad, Larkana, Nawabshah, and other interior Sindh.
The Sindh Finance Minister said that the incapable and incompetent local leadership had failed to deliver the goods and finally the burden was shifted to the party MPAs who accepted this challenge and initiated the development package with their special development funds allocated them.
He said the party planned a development package with its limited funds and initiated the projects with the consensus of the people. He said that the priority was accorded those projects, which had been neglected due to failure of the local bodies leadership.
Sardar Ahmed said that construction of a cardiac emergency centre at the Sindh Government Hospital, Liaquatabad, addition to the ICU Trauma Centre, and Cardiac emergency at Sindh Govt Hospital, Korangi, 100-bed extension in the Sindh Govt Qatar Hospital, Orangi Town, upgradation of the Sindh Govt Hospital, UP Mor, New Karachi, with another 100 beds, establishment of a 50-bed hospital in New Karachi, establishment of Mother and Child Care Centre in Korangi, construction of a Children’s Hospital North Karachi, establishment of Landhi Medical Complex, Landhi, and establishment of Mother-and-Child Care Centres in Lyari and Saddar Towns.
He said that among the 35 projects on the anvil, were the establishment of a Government Monotechnic Institute in Landhi, establishment of Government City Degree College, F B Area, renovation in Riaz Government Girls’ College, Liaquatabad, construction and extension of APWA Govt Girls College, Karimabad, upgradation to intermediate level in the existing Government School in Liaquatabad No 4, establishment of Degree College at Shireen Jinnah Colony, and others.
The Muttahida minister said that the PC-1 had been sent to
the federal government for the sports ground facilities in the FC Area and in
Khajee Ground while a park was being developed in
Gulberg Town.
He said repairs of damaged manholes in Gulberg Town, bypass
6" diameter sewerage line at the Water Pump Chowrangi, and repair of
sewerage system in
Gulberg Town and Jamshed Town were also on the anvil.
He also provided details of the construction and repairs of
different city streets.
Party MPAs, Shoib Bukhari, Kanwar Naveed, Abdul Qudoos and
Faisal Sabzwari were also
present on the occasion.
