THE TRANSFER OF VALUABLE RELICS
FROM SINDH TO PUNJAB IS TANTAMOUNT TO DAYLIGHT ROBBERY
Karachi, 11 May 2002
The MQM Coordination Committee has strongly condemned the move by Punjab
Establishment to close down the Archaeological Department and museums in Karachi
to transfer the entire relics, books, scripts and artefacts fort.
They termed this act as a link of that same chain that has deprived Sindh
province of its wealth since 1947. The
first act of deprivation was committed when decision was made to shift the
capital from Karachi to Islamabad. That was followed by systematic transfer of
all key government offices, departments and head offices of major commercial
units. The act of transferring wealth from Sindh to Punjab in continuing
unabated. The committee stated that
over one hundred thousand artefacts worth in excess of 20 million US Dollars are
being shifted to Lahore.
The Coordination Committee pointed out that when MQM States that Sindh province has become a colony of Establishment of Punjab, and then there are those who criticize on it but the actions of Establishment of Punjab are clear proof of their intentions. This must be checked.
The Coordination committee appealed to president Musharraf he should take serious notice of this move to transfer all the archaeological relics from Karachi to Lahore and take steps to put an end to this nefarious scheme.
