THROUGH DETERMINATION, RESOLVE, LEARNING AND SELF ACCOUNTABILITY ONE
COULD DEVELOP HIS MIND -- ALTAF HUSSAIN
London - 1 May 2000
Mr
Altaf Hussain, MQM Founder and Leader, stated that human mind is like a soil
where one could sow the crop of his thoughts and could also influence new ideas
and thoughts into the minds of other people. He was speaking over the telephone
to the members of MQM Medical Aid Committee and Patient Aid Committee at Nine
Zero, the MQM Head Office.
Mr Hussain said that human mind is like a soil where one could plant the seed
of thoughts and ideas. Whatever seed is cultivated in the soil grows into the
same plant and then a tree, similarly, the ideas and thoughts planted into
human mind helps in the development of those ideas and thoughts. If a person
wants, he can plant the seeds of positive thoughts in his mind to enhance his
positive thinking, whereas, if he sows the seed of negative thought then his
mind will breed negative thinking.
A human being cannot only sow the seeds of positive and negative thinking in
his mind but also influence the minds of other human beings. Elaborating on
this Mr Hussain said that if a person influences the mind of other person by
planting the seed of positive or negative thinking then these seeds will grow
in the minds of that person. Persistent cultivation of these seeds results in a
fully grown crop of thoughts in his mind with very strong roots. Even the
harvesting of these crops of thought is not effective because the roots remain
undamaged and again grow into plants of the same thoughts. As a result, these
thoughts and ideas escape the mind for a short period but emerge once again. If
a person desires not to develop negative thinking then he should program his
mind in such a way that on the one hand it should be fertile to accept only
positive ideas, whereas on the other it should be barren for negative thinking
and ideas.
Mr Hussain said that some piece of land is more fertile for certain crops and
less fertile for other crops - similar is the structure of human mind. Minds of
some people prove fertile for some thoughts and ideas whereas for some other
ideas and thoughts their minds remain infertile. Therefore, if the seed
relating to the fertility of the land is sown in the human mind then the crop
of these ideas and thoughts grow rapidly whereas if the ideas and thoughts
barren to the same mind if sown produce no result.
Through positive thinking and strong determination, a person could change the
characteristic of his mind and make his mind fertile for positive thinking and
ideas and make it barren for the seeds of negative thinking and ideas. This is
within the powers of a person that he programs his mind to accept the relevant
thoughts and ideas. For this purpose, through determination, resolve, learning
and self accountability, one could develop his mind to become barren for
negative thinking and ideas and fertile for positive thinking and ideas. And if
this process is continued then a time comes when the characteristic of his mind
changes, i.e. his mind becomes an acceptor of positive ideas and thoughts and
rejects negative thinking and ideas. Hence, no matter how many seeds of
negative thinking are sowed in his mind - they will not grow as the soil is
barren for such ideas. However, the seeds of positive thinking and ideas will
grow at an accelerated rate as his mind has now become a very good recipient of
such ideas and thoughts.
For example if a person with average appearance is persistently complimented
for being handsome and good looking then a seed is being cultivated in his mind
that he is handsome and good looking. This seed will grow in his mind and he
will truly begin to consider himself as handsome and good looking. Similarly,
if a person with average mentality is misled to believe that he is intelligent
and handsome then this seed will grow in his mind in such a way that he will
start believing that he is the most intelligent person of the world and
considers everyone else as stupid and dumb. Similarly, the seed of egotism
makes a person consider himself most important, only praises himself and these
actions show that he only cares and loves himself. Generally, human mind is
very fertile to the seed of egotism which flourishes very rapidly in the human
mind. Usually, human beings like self praise, therefore, when a person is
praised repeatedly that he is very intelligent, smart and wise etc., actually
you are planting the seed of egotism in his mind which rapidly grows. As a
result, he begins to consider himself most important and superior and others as
unimportant and inferior. If somehow, you retard the growth of egotism, it
stays buried and dormant in the roots of the human mind, but again begin to
grow after a while. This process will continue until and unless a person cures
himself with self analysis and learning and makes his mind barren for the seeds
of egotism. If a person has room for correction then he will progress and
succeed and if a person has no room for correction then there is no chance of
progress.
The mind where egotism is rife, it cannot benefit any common cause. If all
fellow workers make up their mind not to allow egotism to flourish, they would
not work for their 'self' but for a common cause. Creating groups for personal
advancements is also a part of egotism that flourishes in the soil of the mind
that is ready to take the seed of 'grouping'.
Mr Hussain pointed out that the brain controls the entire human body. Human
mind is powerful enough to even cure lethal diseases with its positive
thoughts. It is now scientifically proved that positive thoughts can, in
certain cases, even cure a disease such as 'cancer'. If a patient also receives
psychotherapy treatment along with other medicines, his recovery will undoubtedly
be expedited. A patient begins to feel better psychologically as soon as he
arrives in his doctor's clinic. A soft and caring behaviour by a physician
further reduces the pain and anxiety of a patient. This reduction of pain and
sense of relief is the direct result of positive thoughts by both the physician
and his patient. The positive thoughts have the soothing effect upon the
sufferer's body. It is, therefore, essential for a medical practitioner to
treat his patient with great love and care.
The examples of being cured of cancer are a few and far between, but all the
same, there are cases where persons managed to overcome this wretched disease
and recovered fully to everyone's astonishment. The positive thoughts caused
the mind to send signals to the body that helps to destroy the malignant cells
and cure the body fully of cancer.
With positive thoughts a man can, not only cure himself of various diseases but
also conquer negative animal instincts such as jealousy, envy, greed, fear,
selfishness and sadism etc. Even natural human desires can be controlled with
positive thoughts and determination. In order to achieve that self analysis and
improvement through positive thinking is an essential element.
Mr Altaf Hussain conveyed the message to his fellow workers to think positively
and make their minds barren for negative thoughts, egotism, selfishness and
grouping. They should never forget the sacrifices made by the martyrs, fellows
in prison, disappeared, displaced families and must not forget the sacrifices
made by the loyal fellow workers, their mothers, sisters and the elders. He
appealed for their selflessness and dedication for the cause and to work with
determination and honesty for the attainment of their goal.
Finally he paid tribute to the members of Medical Aid Committee, all the
medical staff and paramedical staff and Patient Aid Committee. He applauded the
hard work they are carrying out for the destitute, famine stricken, sick and
elderly. He pointed out that serving mankind is the greatest worship of all -
those who serve the humanity will be rewarded by God. He also asked the Medical
Aid Committee and Patient Aid Committee to go to the affected parts of
Baluchistan to establish relief camps in a similar manner that they have done in
the Thar area for the stricken people because the Government and other
political and religious parties are not paying any attention to the deplorable
condition of the famine stricken people of Baluchistan.
