THE NATION MUST BE INFORMED ABOUT THE REAL FACTS ON DRONE AND NATO SUPPLIES: ALTAF HUSSAIN

LONDON: 30^TH MARCH 2012:

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the Pakistani establishment and the current rulers should pluck up courage and inform the nation about the real facts on the NATO supplies and the drone strikes. He advised them not to mislead the nation by dragging them in different complexities.

Mr Hussain said that on the one hand joint sessions of the parliament were being held repeatedly to seek opinion on the restoration of the NATO supplies while on the other hand it was being said that the supplies would not be allowed as long as the drone strikes continued. He added that the drone strikes were occurring continually and there were two strikes on the 30^th March as well. No condemnatory statement was issued by the foreign ministry or any other functionary of the government on the strikes.

Mr Hussain said that all the political and religious parties of the country were maintaining a criminal silence on the issue of the drone strikes. Some parties always raised a hue and cry and made claims about strong reprisals but tended to hide themselves in their holes whenever the strikes actually occurred.

Mr Hussain said that this joke with the nation must stop and they must be informed that the national honour and pride had ceased to exist. There was clear conflict in the deeds and sayings of the political and religious party whose only aim was to further their vested interests.

Mr Hussain said that the nation must be informed about the real facts on these issues like a brave and living nation even if it meant self-abasement.
