ALTAF HUSSAIN ASK THE PEOPLE OF SINDH TO GET UNITED
AGAINST THE OCCUPATION OF SINDH BY OUTSIDERS

MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has warned of the conspiracy to occupy the land of Sindh and has appealed to the people of Sindh to get united and jointly face this threat. Pakistan is faced with internal and external threats and the situation demands unity from all the political parties. He was addressing the general workers gathering organised in different districts of Sindh simultaneously attended by hundreds of thousands of MQM workers including womenfolk. Resolutions were presented by Mr Hussain on the issues of religious extremism, conspiracy to occupy Sindh, electricity load-shedding, allegations levelled by super powers of the world against the army and its intelligence agencies and for accepting the mandate of all political parties of the country. The participants agreed with these resolutions and so these were passed unanimously. He condemned the brutal terrorist attack on the police training centre in Lahore and prayed for those who lost their lives. He warned of the tough times faced by the country and appealed to all the political parties to demonstrate unity to rid the country of the menace of terrorism. Terrorists are raising havoc in the name of Islam whereas the religion preaches of peace. He appealed to the President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Federal Cabinet, Representatives of the political parties in the Parliament and provincial assemblies that Pakistan’s existence is at risk as a result of the acts of terrorism, therefore, unity amongst all is the need of time. He also asked the religious scholars to offer advice in their preaching that suicide attacks are forbidden in Islam and those committing such acts and those behind these acts are not fit to be called Muslims and even humans. Such elements are also enemies of our religion Islam. He said that MQM wants to see people of all faith having the freedom to practice their religion according to their customs. Not only Altaf Hussain and the MQM but it is the responsibility of each and every patriotic Pakistani to come forward and unite against the religious extremism and fanaticism. To save Pakistan we have to get united against the religious extremist terrorists.

Referring to various newspaper items Mr Hussain said that conspiracy is underway to occupy the Sindh Dharti of Shah Latif, Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Hazrat Sachchal Sarmast and Sufi Abdul Raheem Gruhri, therefore, he appealed to the brave sons, mothers, sisters and elders of Sindh to get united against the occupation of Sindh by outsiders. Talibans are threatening the traders, industrialists and businessmen through telephone calls and letters demanding large sums of money or face dire consequences. Similarly in Karachi areas of Clifton, Defence, North Nazimabad and interior Sindh parents are being threatened not to allow their daughter to leave homes without wearing a veil or face the consequences. Once again conspiracy is being planned to raise havoc and bloodshed in Sindh with a view to occupy the cities, towns and villages of Sindh. He appealed to the intellectuals, journalists, columnists, poets, writers, teachers and students to get ready to save the land of Sindh from being occupied by the outsiders. He quoted when nearly three hundreds years ago the force of Madad Khan from Afghan province of Kandahar attacked Badin (City of Sindh) and unleashed a reign of terror, set fire to all the homes and ruined the city. Then the Sufi poet Abdul Raheem Gruhri said that it will be those from Kandahar who will damage the motherland of Sindh. In light of this prediction it is time now that the people of Sindh must get united to save their motherland. The acts of terrorism are maligning the image of Islam and Muslims in the eyes of the world. The righteous religious scholars must come forward and play their positive role to enlighten the general public that such acts of terrorism are forbidden in Islam. The Holy Quran states that there is no compulsion in religion. Moreover, the Holy Quran states that your religion is for you and my religion for me. It is a famous hadith that a person is not a Muslim if other Muslims are not safe from his tongue and hands. Similarly, other hadith is that it is forbidden for a Muslim to slay another Muslim. How come then these so-called champions of Islam carry out suicide attacks killing the Muslims busy in offering prayers in a mosque. Islam does not even preach us to attack worship places of other religions. We are Muslims by the Grace of Allah and wish to die as Muslims. Because of these religious extremists and fanatics the name of Islam is being maligned in the world. Therefore, we must unite to defeat all such elements. The world believes that all Muslims are extremists. We have to build Pakistan in the light of the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal. Those who are involved in terrorism in NWFP have now moved into Punjab, therefore, the people of Punjab specially the youth should get united against such forces responsible for the baton wielding shariat. He also appealed to the people of Sindh and NWFP to stand against the terrorists. Personnel of law enforcement agencies and police are being targeted and martyred by these elements. He paid tributes to the martyred personnel of police, rangers and security forces. He condemned the recent terrorist attack in Lahore on the police training centre. He paid tributes to those who bravely fought the terrorists and prayed for those who were martyred. He also congratulated Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik for a successful operation. On the announcement to end the Governor Rule in Punjab, he congratulated President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. On the Supreme Court decision of restoration of Shahbaz Sharif’s Punjab Government, Mr Hussain offered his heartiest felicitations to PML-N Leader Mian Nawaz Sharif, Mian Shahbaz Sharif and other leaders and all their workers. He said that as now the President and Prime Minister have ended the Governor Rule and extended their hand of friendship so too the PML-N leadership should also extend their hand of friendship with a view to both the parties getting united to save the country. MQM is not only happy on their friendship and getting together but also offers all its support and assistance to save the country. He appealed to all the participants to spread his message of peace to all.

Resolutions

The meeting also unanimously passed five resolutions which were presented by Mr Hussain.
Through first resolution, the meeting condemned the terrorist incidents in the name of Islam in the countryThe general workers’ meeting also passed another resolution asking the international community to help Pakistani Army and the intelligence agencies and stop leveling allegations.
Another resolution was passed unanimously appealing all parties to accept and respect each others mandate with open heart.Through another resolution, the MQM chief and the participants warned the Karachi Electric Supply Company to purchase furnace oil immediately to increase power production.
The meeting passed another resolution to condemn the conspiracy of a possible take over of Sindh and vowed that it would be foiled at all cost.
