CITIZENS OF KARACHI DESERVE COMMENDATION FOR MAINTAINING EXEMPLARY PEACE ACCORDING TO THEIR TRADITIONS DURING THE CRICKET MATCH WITH INDIA –ALTAF HUSSAIN

Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) in a
statement said that the people of Karachi deserve extraordinary praise for
manifesting their usual peaceful and hospitable behavioural pattern in
maintaining peace and harmony during the one-day international cricket match
played in Karachi between Pakistan and India. He further added that for a long
time certain element under conspiracy have been presenting a negative image of
Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan and under that rubric international
cricket in Karachi was proscribed. However, he said, the manifestation of
traditional discipline, harmony and peace during the cricket match has dispelled
all notions and negative propaganda against Karachi. He added that the
demonstration of excellent discipline, sportsman spirit and warmth has not been
acknowledged only by the host team but also the visiting team, cricket officials
and international observers. He elaborated that victory and defeat is the part
of the game but it was manifestly demonstrated that in this match the discipline
and peaceful attitude maintained by the people of Karachi has actually won.
Mr Altaf Hussain congratulated Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Governor of Sindh for his excellent administration for maintenance of peace and tranquillity in Karachi during the cricket match and he also extended his commendations to Sardar Ali Mohammad, Chief Minister and the administration.
