Mr. Altaf
Hussain condemns the terrorists attack upon church in Islamabad, Pakistan
London – 17 March 2002
Mr. Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of the MQM (Muttahida Quami
Movement), has strongly condemned the incident of grenade attack on a church in
diplomatic enclave of Pakistan capital, Islamabad.
He said that it is very unfortunate and deplorable that this cowardly act
was carried out while the Christians were engaged in Sunday worship inside the
church. Mr. Altaf Hussain reiterated his universally applicable formula that if after the investigation of this
tragic incidence the perpetrators are not apprehended then it is a forgone
conclusion that certain secret agencies or the elements on their pay roll are
involved in this incidence. Mr.
Altaf Hussain said that I and all the workers and supporters of the MQM share
the grief of the aggrieved families who lost their loved ones in this attack and
we are praying for the early recovery of the injured persons.
In the end Mr. Altaf Hussain asked the present military regime to take
concrete steps for the safety and security of the diplomats and religious
minorities in Pakistan. He further demanded that the real culprits
involved in the attack on Protestant Church be apprehended and brought to
justice.
