LIFE OF MQM OFFICE BEARER IN DANGER

This is to inform you that Mr. Shabbir Quaimi 38, son of Bashir Ahmed, Incharge of MQM Mirpurkhas Zone was arrested on March 25, 99, from his home in Mirpurkhas Division, interior Sindh, on false and fabricated charges.

We have just learned that he has been shifted to the custody of Police in Karachi. This is ominous, as Karachi Police has already committed scores of extra-judicial murders.

You may recall that since the imposition of the undemocratic Governor Rule in the province of Sindh, ten MQM workers and supporters have been ruthlessly tortured to death while in custody of the Law Enforcement Agencies.

We appeal to you to intervene urgently to save Mr. Quaimi from torture and possible extra-judicial execution.
