ALTAF PROMISES TO CHANGE LIFESTYLE OF LYRAI’S RESIDENTS.

Lamenting that the poor people of Lyari had been betrayed by those voted to power so far, MQM leader Altaf Hussain has promised to change their lifestyle, reminding them that his party had already launched a massive development programme  to fulfill that commitment.

Addressing the party first ever rally in PPP stronghold Saturday night at the Kakri Ground, Lyari, he issued a chain of directives to the Sindh  Governor, and the City Nazim to introduce fresh schemes in health, education, sanitation, and  sports fields for a people who had remained at the mercy of vested interests so far.

Picking on the people’s party which had been winning elections from the area since 1970, he asked the audience whether they performance of those in authority until before the MQM assumed power. The reply from the crowd, packing the vast ground and by lanes, was a big “no”.

Fluttering of the party tricolor lent colour to a jubilant atmosphere. The crowd had begun pouring into the ground which had been profusely illuminated for the occasion.

The Muttahida Quami Movement had already launched a record programme of over Rs:1 billion for improvement of health, and sanitation, a road network, education institutions and for the supply for drinking water for people who had suffered jails and torture for the sake of PPP and yet had remained ignored.

He paid handsome tributes to Governor Dr. Ishrt-ul-Ebad Khan, City  Nazim Mustafa Kamal, and Sindh Minister Shoaib Bokhari and Qamar  Mansoor for introducing development projects and providing sports facilities, including staging of the first sever SAARC international football tournament in Lyari.

Altaf appealed to the people of the area to support the MQM to lend support to a aprty committed to the welfare of the people. It comprised the poor and the oppressed, and had sent them to the parliament against the practice normally being followed by the rich and the influential to frame policies, which are obviously loaded heavily in favour  of the vested interest classes.

He said that Mustafa Kamal had already allocated Rs:500 million for Lyari’s development, and had allocated 6 million gallons for Lyari from the recently commissioned K-3 Project for 100 mgd  water supply for Karachi.

Secondly, the Governor toured the area which was the solitary example in Lyari’s history as no other governor had ever visited the area before him.

Altaf Hussain said that a new pipeline was being laid from Gharibabad to Lyari  to Lyari for the supply of fresh water to the area, and already one of the colonies had started getting fresh water after almost 50 Years. These were MQM achievements which none could deny, he said.
