SINDH
GOVERNMENT’S STEPS TOWARDS ABOLITION OF THE NO GO AREAS IN KARACHI IS
WELCOMING: ALTAF HUSSAIN
London-2003-06-02
Mr
Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) welcomed the
steps taken by Sindh government for the abolition of “No Go Areas” in
Karachi. He said that for the last
twelve years innocent people of those areas had become hostage to the
terrorists. Thousands of families
were forced to abandon their homes for fear of armed attacks, loot and plunder.
Mr Altaf Hussain pointed out that it is the responsibility of the Sindh
Government including the Governor, Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad, Chief Minister, Ali
Mohammad Meher and other provincial ministers to ensure the safe return of
displaced families to their homes. The provincial ministers must also take
concrete steps to solve the problems faced by common men i.e., electricity
shortages, water shortages, sewerage, refuse collection and employment. Mr
Hussain specifically asked the MQM elected ministers and the Members of the
Provincial and National Assemblies to visit their constituencies on a regular
basis and listen to the complaints of common men.
He also appealed to the leaders and workers of the MQM to forgive those
who were forced to join the “Haqiqi” terrorists on gunpoint and also solve
their problems, sincerely. Mr Altaf
Hussain repeated the grant of general amnesty for those who were forced to join
the “Haqiqi” and emphasised upon the leaders and workers of MQM not to take
revenge, uphold the process of law and co-exist peacefully.
