Altaf pays tributes to SP Rehman case convicts
By our correspondent
KARACHI: The founding leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has said that the MQM was struggling for the rights of oppressed people keeping its activities within the framework of Constitution and this struggle cannot be suppressed by arresting party workers and awarding them death penalties.
The MQM chief said that like Hakim Said case, awarding of death sentence to MQM workers in SP Azizur Rehman case on the behest of Nawaz Sharif was another abortive attempt to disappoint the Mohajir people. He said that the way the MQM workers responded to the death penalties was a point to think for the ruling class that they cannot suppress Mohajirs by using negative tactics. He paid great tributes to the six MQM workers - Muhammad Wasim, Asif Jamil, Atiq Azam, Irshad Sarfaraz, Shabbir Ahmed and Khurram Hafeez - for remaining determined even after getting death penalty.
Meanwhile, addressing a gathering, held at the MQM International Secretariat at London in connection with the 21st foundation day of APMSO, Altaf Hussain declared that the MQM had launched peaceful democratic struggle for basic and legal rights within the frame work of the Pakistan's constitution for all the oppressed people of the country including Mohajirs. He called upon all the MQM workers, supporters and sympathisers all over the world to realise their enormous responsibilities as a self respecting and living nation and contribute their might to achieve their objective.
