ALTAF HUSSAIN DEMANDS THE PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER TO TAKE FIRM AND
IMMEDIATE ACTIONS TO DISBAND ALL SUCH MADRESSAHS
WHICH PROMOTE JIHAD AND TERRORISM

London – 15th July 2005 MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain while strongly condemning the terrorist attack upon Londoners on 7th July 2005 has demanded of the President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and those at the helm of affairs that to save Pakistan and to promote the true sprit of Islam, to take firm and immediate actions to disband all such Madressahs which promote jihad and terrorism from the entire country because these jihadi organisations are not only committing acts of terrorism in Pakistan but also exporting the evil ideology of terrorism in other countries. He also appealed to the jihadi elements in the name of Allah Almighty and the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) not to brainwash innocent youth in the name of Islam and send them throughout the world to commit suicidal terrorist attacks as this is tarnishing the image of the Muslim Ummah in the eyes of international community. He was expressing these views on the occasion of material aid program organised by the party’s welfare wing in the interior Sindh, over seven locations.

He said that it was a shock to learn that three of the suicide bombers were British born of Pakistani origin. Although shocking but not entirely surprising because similar acts of terrorism have been taking place in Pakistan for many years. Mosques and Imam Bargahs full of worshippers have been repeatedly targeted. Innocent public engaged in prayers are massacred indiscriminately. The cause of this despicable state of affairs are misguided ill-informed so-called religious clerics (jihadi mullahs), who brainwash the young minds in Madressahs (religious schools) to commit murders in the name of religion. They are not only creating hell at home but have now successfully exported their evil to foreign lands. These so-called religious clerics (jihadi mullahs) are making the lives of millions of peace loving Pakistanis precarious who are living in Britain and other foreign countries. What they are doing in the name of Islam is a crime of monumental proportions. They are putting the lives of hundreds of thousands of Muslims at risk. Mr Hussain wholeheartedly praised the British Government and particularly the police in their efforts to cool down the sentiments of a very angry and saddened British public. He again condemned the act of terror committed upon peace loving Londoners and offered his party’s unconditional cooperation to Prime Minister Tony Blair and British Government in their fight against terrorism.

Mr Hussain said that such Madressahs which promote terrorism in the name of Islam should be disbanded immediately and others to be merged with the local schools, colleges and universities so the pupils receive a broader education. In any case, if such Madressahs cannot be removed from the whole country, they must be disbanded from the province of Sindh, particularly Karachi. Finally, he offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of 7th July terror victims in London and prayers for the wounded.
