MQMS WORLDWIDE PROTEST
MUTTAHIDA QUAMI MOVEMENT (MQM) BEGINS ITS WORLDWIDE PROTEST CAMPAIGN TO PROTEST AGAINST THE CONTINUED INJUSTICES, ATROCITIES AND THE DENIAL OF THEIR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS BY THE SUCCESSIVE GOVERNMENTS OF PAKISTAN INCLUDING THE PRESENT MILITARY GOVERNMENT
7 July 2000
Toronto
MQM (Overseas) USA & Canada Greater
Toronto Unit organized a Demonstration at a busy intersection in
front of Pakistani Consulate in Toronto. The demonstration
was part of the MQM's ongoing World Wide Protest drive against
the human rights violations towards Mohajirs in Pakistan.
The demonstration
was largely attended by GTA Unit workers, supporters and local
Pakistanis.
The women and children were also present. The participants were carrying MQM flags, placards and Quaid-e-Tehreek Altaf Hussain's portrait. During the demonstration GTA Unit workers distributed leaflets and fliers among the passers by to apprise them about the situation in Urban Sindh.
The placards contained following
messages: Don't support army rule - Don't condone, condemn
Pakistan - Mohajirs, victims of genocide - Justice denied
is life denied - Ask for fair trial for Farooq Sattar - Don't
support military rule - Stop army operation against the Mohajirs
- Go back, go back, army go back - Sindh a flashpoint - Pakistan,
another Auschwitz. There was a great interest among local
Canadians and they were stopping to query about the demonstration.
Passing vehicles were also slowing down and interestingly hearing
the loud slogans and reading the messages on the placards. Some
of the slogans raised at the protest were: Go Back Go Back
Army Go Back, No Justice No Peace, We Want Justice, Wake Up Wake
Up Canada Wake Up, Stop Killing Mohajirs etc.
The security staff present at the
Demonstration Site was very impressed with the well disciplined
demonstration and was very cooperative with MQM workers.
They were also inquiring about the demonstration and situation in
Pakistan.
Just before the end of the protest,
Canadian Security Staff guided MQM local Officials to the
Pakistani Consulate where a petition was submitted on behalf of
Canadian Pakistanis to protest against the ongoing tyranny of
Mohajirs in Pakistan. Consulate staff received the petition
on behalf of Pakistani Consular General.
