GOVERNMENT BRUTALITIES AGAINST MQM OFFICE BEARERS, WORKERS AND THEIR RELATIVES CONTINUE UNABATED IN KARACHI
Today, the Karachi Police is continuing siege and search operations and raids at the houses of the MQM office bearers, workers, sympathizers and their relatives in different localities in Karachi.
The police contingent of Kala Kot Police station led by SHO (Station House Officer) Choudhry Sohail raided the house of the MQM worker Anis, Mairaj and Shafiq. The Police contingent forced open the doors of the houses and in the absence of the above named, they ransacked their houses and molested the ladies while inflicted brutal torture of the male members of the household.
The SHO also forced every one out of the house and threatened them to torch their houses. The raiding party looted the valuables and other household items.
In another incident on 7th. July 1999, an MQM worker, Sarwar was arrested by Okara Police in Punjab. Due to Government atrocities and fear for the life and liberty in Karachi, he had fled to Okara, Punjab where he was temporarily living in hiding with his maternal uncle. His brother Javed was also arrested by Saeeedabad Police in Karachi and was later released on payment of extortion money (Rs. 8,000) enduring brutal torture. Sarwar was also arrested previously twice and have been unlawfully incarcerated for a period of 18 months in Central Prison Karachi.
