NAWAZ SHARIF SELLS OUT KASHMIR CAUSE – ALTAF HUSSAIN

London- 5 July 1999: Mr. Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) most vehemently condemned the sell out of Kashmir cause by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Washington. He unequivocally said that this sell out tantamount to betrayal and back stabbing to the Mujahideens who are sacrificing lives for their freedom in Kashmir for decades. During a briefing to the visiting delegation of the British Pakistanis at the International Secretariat, he stated that this sell out is a total surrender and a compromise of the blood of Mujahideens, the Kashmiri martyrs and their relatives who sacrificed their lives and loved ones for their freedom.

Mr. Altaf Hussain further said that Nawaz Sharif has not only betrayed and deceived the entire nation and Kashmiris but also has dishonoured and humiliated our patriotic soldiers and officers of the Pakistan armed forces by agreeing to the pull out from Kargil, Dras and Batalik which were most heroically conquered by the Mujahideens and our soldiers. Altaf Hussain said that this back stabbing by Nawaz Sharif is purely a political expediency to extend the lease of his Government but at the cost of the country and the nation which the patriotic Pakistanis and Kashmiris will never forget and forgive. He stated that this desecration of respect and honour of the Pakistani nation, armed forces and Kashmiris under external pressure must not go in vain and the people must now march not only to remove Nawaz Sharif from the premiership but also try him in an open court to give him exemplary punishment befitting a traitor.
