Members of the MQM Coordination Committee have strongly condemned the sustained target killings of MQM workers and Urdu speaking people by the terrorists of Lyari Gang War and so-called Peoples Amn Committee under the patronage of the some elements within the Pakistan Peoples Party Provincial Government. It is pertinent to note that a strong perception is taking root that the on-going target killings of the Urdu-speaking in general and MQM workers in particular is a ploy to turn the peoples focus from the bombing during a Shiite Congregation on “Ashura” and loot and arson of Bolton and other Markets in Karachi on 28th December 2009 and an effort to weaken and marginalise the MQM in Karachi through mindless terrorism.
MQM demanded of the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to take stern action against the killers of innocent workers and supporters of the MQM and ask the mentors of Lyari Gang War and Peoples Amn Committee who are well known within the PPP to withdraw their support and also their “Order to Kill” innocent Mohajirs in general and MQM workers in particular.
Members of the MQM Coordination Committee said that their quest to take over Karachi and have next City Nazim (Mayor) from PPP would never be fulfilled. They further added that even if certain elements within the Pakistan Peoples Party are aspiring for it, they should achieve this through political process and democratic means and not violence and blood shed.
