BALOCHISTAN NATIONAL PARTY (BNP) LEADER RAUF MENGAL LAUDS
ALTAF HUSSAIN

London-17 January 2005 Mr Abdul Rauf Mengal, Member of the National Assembly belonging to Balochistan National Party (BNP) phoned at the MQM International Secretariat in London and spoke to the founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) to laud him on his courageous stand on the issue of Balochistan. Mr Mengal during his telephonic conversation said to Mr Hussain that he had raised his voice in the most testing times of the people of Balochistan for which he and the people of Balochistan are extremely grateful. Mr Hussain responded that his struggle is for the oppressed people of Pakistan and he has fulfilled his duty by raising his voice for the people of Balochistan and that he would continue his protests on all forums should any adverse action was taken against the people of Balochistan.

Mr Rauf Mengal informed that the security forces have begun house-to-house search in the different areas of Sui. He further added that the essential utilities including water and electricity have been cut off and the movement of the people have been stopped, forcibly confining the people into their houses.

Mr Altaf Hussain expressed his concerns and demanded of the Federal Government to stop house-to-house searches, restore the essential supplies including water and electricity forthwith. Mr Hussain further added that all the political and religious parties should raise their voice if people of any province of Pakistan face state repression but sadly, however, the parties proclaiming to be the upholders of the Federation and rights of the people are mysteriously keeping mum on the crisis of Balochistan.
