MQM WILL NOT PERMIT THE VICTIMISATION IN THE NAME OF KAROKARI ANYMORE – ALTAF HUSSAIN
SOON THE OPPRESSIVE MEDIEVAL FEUDAL SYSTEM WILL BE TOTALLY WIPED OUT FROM SINDH

MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has assured the people of Sindh that MQM will continue to struggle for the eradication of the archaic and cruel custom of honour killing (karokari).  He expressed these views addressing a big crowd gathered to welcome the newly elected MQM Member of Senate Dr Mohammad Ali Brohi in Larkana.  While commenting on Shaista Alimani Case, Mr Hussain reminded the people of Sindh of his pledge to protect the rights of Sindh Province and said, “as soon as I was informed that Shaista Alimani, a daughter of Sindh, is being forced to run for her life with no one to provide her shelter; I immediately spoke with the President’s spokesman and demanded for her protection and security within 48 hours and to arrest those responsible.  I told him that we would resign from ministries if we are not able to provide protection to our mothers, sisters and daughters.” 

Mr Hussain informed that as soon as the Governor of Sindh was informed of the threat to Shaista Alimani’s life, he rushed and took her to the Women’s Police Station to provide her shelter and protection.  Mr Hussain said that now the President has issued orders to provide full protection to Shaista Alimani and arrest those threatening to take her life.  The Governor Sindh acting on President’s instructions is taking steps to ensure the safety and security to Shaista Alimani and arresting those responsible.  He informed that Shaista Alimani is now safe and the workers of MQM Ladies Wing are looking after her and caring for her needs.  He expressed his gratitude to President General Pervez Musharraf, Governor Sindh Dr Eshrat Ul Ibad and Chief Minister Sindh Ali Mohammad Mehar and other government officials for their actions.  Addressing Shaista Alimani, Mr Hussain said, “O’ daughter of Sindh, now you can reside wherever you desire and feel safe and if you need we will be there to provide any assistance required.  Doors of your brother, Altaf Hussain’s home, are wide open for you and your enemies will have to face your honourable brothers before harming you.”

Mr Hussain warned the feudal lords, jaagirdars and waderaas; responsible for deciding to sacrifice Shaista Alimani in the name of karokari, that MQM is now in the field to struggle against such archaic, medieval and cruel custom and will not permit the victimisation of mothers, sisters and daughters of Sindh in the name of karokari anymore. He ensured that MQM will not sit still until this oppressive and cruel custom is completely wiped out from Sindh.  He invited the Sindhi intellectuals, writers, journalists, doctors, engineers, lawyers, students, the youth and people from all walks of life to come forward, give strength to the MQM as it will continue to struggle to completely eliminate all such archaic and cruel customs including karokari from the province of Sindh. 

Mr Hussain said that all the oppressed people of Sindh are cheerful that on the one hand MQM has raised such a strong voice against karokari, whereas, on the other hand for the first time in the 56 year history of Pakistan, Dr Mohammad Ali Borhi, member of middle and poor class has been elected to become Member of Senate from Larkana under the banner of MQM.  He termed the victory of Dr Brohi as the first dent in the medieval feudal system and extended his gratitude and felicitations to the middle class and poor of Pakistan in general and that of Sindh in particular.

Mr Hussain said that the people of Sindh are awakening against the brutal custom of karokari and the medieval feudal system.  By the grace of Allah Almighty, soon the oppressive medieval feudal system will be totally wiped out from Sindh.  The poor and oppressed people of Sindh will be liberated from oppression and tyranny of the feudal system and they will be able to live with dignity, pride and honour.  Mr Hussain extended his tributes to the MQM Zonal Organiser Larkana, Members of Zonal Committee, Members of Interior Sindh Committee and all the workers of MQM Larkana and nearby districts for organising such a historic victory procession and reception.
