WORKERS
AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO ENSURE THEIR NAMES ARE INCLUDED IN ELECTORAL LISTS
– ALTAF HUSSAIN
London
– 1st January 2004
MQM Founder &
Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has stressed upon MQM workers and the public to ensure
their names are included in the electoral lists.
He was addressing a joint general workers meeting of MQM workers in
Karachi and Hyderabad. He also
extended his best wishes on the New Year.
Mr
Hussain said that the government has announced addition and amendment process in
electoral lists to commence from 2nd January, therefore, all the workers,
mothers, sisters and elders must ensure that each and every person’s name
including their relatives and neighbours is entered in the electoral lists.
Addressing the workers, Mr Hussain said that you organise memorable public
gatherings, large electoral processions, remain in contact with the public and
work tirelessly to decorate your neighbourhood and cities during elections. However, many of our voters are not able to cast their votes
because they overlook to enter their names in the electoral lists. As a result
hundreds and thousands of voters are deprived of voting in elections.
He appealed to the righteous mothers, sisters and elders to make certain
that their names; their family members and their neighbours are included in the
electoral lists.
Mr
Hussain further stated that this is the century of information and technology. In today’s era, countries with low ratio in education are
weak in the fields of economy, defence etc; whereas countries with higher
education ratio are amongst the countries progressing in economy, military,
information and technology etc. He
stressed upon the youth to pay attention towards education, not to adopt the
cheating process to acquire degrees. Thus
acquiring more knowledge in their field, which will in turn benefit their city,
province and country.
In
his New Year message Mr Hussain advised the workers to observe
self-accountability, reflect upon their mistakes, shortcomings and negligence;
pledge not to repeat them and make efforts towards exemplary organisational
discipline. All the workers must vow to strengthen themselves on
ideological grounds and not allow any negativity to influence their minds.
They must also pledge to strengthen themselves physically and
psychologically to prepare themselves to sustain all sorts of difficulties.
He also stressed upon them not to look upon those who got tired and left
the caravan of the Movement but to look upon the determined and resolute
companions who are continuing with the journey.
At this juncture the participants from Karachi and Hyderabad expressed
their love, commitment and affection towards Mr Hussain by singing that “today
we pledge to our Quaid…”
Reciting
Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s verse Mr Hussain prayed to Almighty Allah for total
peace, prosperity and happiness for the province of Sindh and generally to
people all over the world; resolution to problems and crisis faced by every
human being of this world, peace in entire world, happiness, safety and security
for all.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to bless the souls of martyrs of the Movement, release for incarcerated workers and help the needy. He also prayed for the spread and ultimate success of righteous message of the Movement, its ideology and the philosophy of realism and practicalism.
