SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCES OF JOURNALISTS IS A SERIOUS MATTER WHICH SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED – ALTAF HUSSAIN
25 January 2002
Mr. Altaf Hussain the founder and leader of MQM (Muttahida Quami Movement) has
stated that sudden and mysterious disappearances of the journalists like a
senior journalist Ghulam Hussnain and an American journalist Mr. Daniel Pearl in
Karachi, Pakistan is a matter of serious concern.
He stated that he is shocked that no investigation has been conducted to
find out their whereabouts and those responsible for their disappearances.
He further stated that it is equally amazing that none of the journalist
bodies like APNS, CPNE, PFUJ etc spoke a single word on this and preferred to
mysteriously keep quiet. The
disappearances of these journalists are not only a serious criminal offence but
the fact that no condemnation by the concerned journalist organisations and
political and religious parties was lodged is also equally criminal.
Mr. Hussain appealed to president Musharraf to take notice of these
mysterious disappearances and held thorough investigation in to this matter and
bring the culprits responsible to justice. END\\\
