BALOCHISTAN IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE FACING THE COUNTRY: ALTAF HUSSAIN
GRAVE DECISIONS WILL HAVE TO BE TAKEN EVEN IF WITH A HEAVY HEART
LONDON: 23RD FEBRUARY 2012:
Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the situation in Balochistan is the most important issue facing the country as Balochistan has reached on the brink of separation from the country. He said this while talking to the head of Awami Muslim League and former federal minister Mr Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed.
Mr Hussain said that he had been consistently calling for holding an All Parties Conference (APC) as the situation was becoming grave with each passing day, but his entreaties fell on deaf ears. Now that the APC was being called it had already become very late, but the APC would not yield any results without the participation of influential Baloch leaders.
Mr Hussain said that the APC was no longer an option for resolving the Balochistan situation, and grave decisions would have to be taken even if with a heavy heart. Actions against the Baloch people would have to be stopped, and their legitimate rights granted. The voice of the Baloch people would have to be listened.
Mr Rasheed agreed with the views of Mr Hussain and added that finding a solution of the Balochistan problem was of utmost importance.
Mr Rasheed also congratulated Mr Hussain on the success of the historic public meeting of women in Karachi.
