I AM A LOYAL DAUGHTER OF SINDH – MOHTARMA FAIZA GABOL

Badin – 9 February 2001

Mohtarma Faiza Gabol, wife of Mr Altaf Hussain the Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), has stated that she is the daughter of Sindh and does not require any other identity for herself.  She was addressing a gathering of journalists at the Badin Press Club in Badin, interior Sindh, southern province of Pakistan.

Speaking to the journalists in Sindhi language she said that she is very pleased to address her brothers and would like to assure that she would never let them down and would be along side them in the struggle for the rights of the Sindh province.

Mohtarma Faiza Gabol said that we are talking of democracy and the rights of Sindh province. She asked whether we want a system of democracy where the rulers in form of robbers continue to impoverish Sindh, usurp the rights and resources of the Sindhi people and the land of Sindh or we want a system where we have our rights.  We must be clear whether we want democracy, we want power or do we want to achieve our rights. She said that it is evident that we want to attain our rights and not power.  On the question regarding her identity that whether she is a Punjabi, Pathan or a Baloch, Mohtarma Faiza Gabol declared that we are aware of such questions which are being raised to create a controversy and we are also very well aware of those who are behind this conspiracy.  She emphasised that her identity is with the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), with the flag of MQM, with the ideology, philosophy, the beliefs of the MQM and the rights and land of Sindh Province.  She said that she is also a daughter of Sindh and she does not require any feudal tag for her identity.  She reiterated that she is a very devoted and committed worker and a very devoted and loyal daughter of Sindh.

Replying to question, Mohtarma Faiza Gabol said that if the need arises which demands her presence in Pakistan then she would fulfil her obligations.  However, she clarified that she does not wish for a celebrity status in the politics and her return would certainly not be for this purpose.
