TO TARGET THE INNOCENT PEOPLE OF BALOCHISTAN INCLUDING INNOCENT WOMEN AND CHILDREN UNDER THE GUISE OF ACTION AGAINST A FEW INDIVIDUALS IS NAKED OPPRESSION – ALTAF HUSSAIN
London – 31st December 2005 ,,,MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the bombings in Dera Bugti on 30th December 2005 by the security personnel. He said that the indiscriminate and arbitrary use of brute force never produces positive results. To target the innocent people of Balochistan including innocent women and children under the guise of action against a few individuals is naked oppression. He also deplored the attack on the residence of Nawab Akbar Bugti in Dera Bugti.
Mr Hussain said that for long we maintained India to be our country’s enemy but have today entered into dialogue and extending the hand of friendship and better relations between the two countries including talks on the sensitive Kashmir Issue. Despite the fact that hundreds and thousands of people have died in the wars between Pakistan and India, both the countries are putting their differences behind and continuing with the process of dialogue which is being appreciated at all levels. He asked the Government why then for the national unity we cannot adopt the path of dialogue and negotiations with our own although disenchanted citizens?
Mr Hussain demanded for an immediate end to the operation in Kohulu and Dera Bugti and to adopt the path of negotiations and dialogue so as not to further aggravate the sense of deprivation amongst the people of smaller provinces. Mr Hussain reiterated that be it the issue of water reserves, Balochistan issue or the legitimate rights of Sindh Province in NFC Award; he has always being a patriotic Pakistani presented his viewpoint in the interest of national unity and the country’s interest. And even today my opinions are in the interest of the country. He appealed not to be stubborn and do away with the use of brute force against innocent citizens. He also demanded to lift the ban upon print and electronic media and human rights activists and allow their representatives to visit Kohulu and Dera Bugti. He expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the people of Balochistan, prayed for the martyrs and the early recovery of those injured.
