MQM founder and leader Altaf Hussain has announced enforcement of strict rules, in order to run the party on Ideological basis and procedure once again. Party convener Dr. Imran Farooq has been entrusted with full powers in this connection. Mr. Hussain made the announcement, while addressing a meeting of workers office bearers at Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall. The meeting was attended by members of coordination committee, MQM ministers, senators, MPAs, MNAs and members & office bearers of different wings and departments.

Mr. Hussain in his address said that the movement, which he founded on June 11 1978, was an ideological movement created for the restoration of the rights of people and acquirement of collective interests and not for serving the vested interest of a few opportunists. However unfortunately many a people specially most of the office bearers changed their way of thinking and adopted lines of pure vested personal interests for personal gains, he added. He further said, that he cant lead a movement whose members, particularly a substantial number of office bearers develop opportunistic tendencies, political gains & self interest becomes their sole aim in life and that the office bearers and workers begin to indulge in acts of threats and druses.

Mr. Hussain stated that he is a man of principles. The achievement that he made ever since the days of his education was without any body’s help and that’s why he has never feared and bowed before any one except for God almighty.

Mr. Hussain further said that since the June 11 1978 he has been laying emphasis on Quality and not Quantity, that’s why he has made up his mind that how less the number of workers be but who so ever be a member he should be a true strong & committed ideologue of the party & whose thinking should be purely ideological & non political. Admitting the short-term consequences of this action, Mr. Hussain said that this may entail some losses, but this is high time that we should / must ponder, whether we believe in political and temporary gains or we want to resurrect the organisation on ideological basis once again. On this all present responded with one voice that we accept all your decisions, we don’t want assembly seats, movement / tehreek is more dearer to us. Mr. Hussain on this response from the participants said that if that is so then make a pledge today that whatever steps would be taken to bring tehreek back on track of ideology, you will welcome them with a sincere heart & good faith and that you will neither get disappointed nor leave your brother Altaf Hussain, even if some temporary damages / loses are inflicted upon the party in the process and the number of party members is reduced to a few hundred.

I am announcing enforcement of stringent rules in the tehreek from today, henceforth no disciplinary violation will be tolerated whether the same is committed by a worker or convener Dr. Imran Farooq and if after repeated reprimands any worker or office bearer is found making no improvements he will not be spared this time, Mr. Hussain further added amid loud applaud from the participants.

Mr. Hussain went on to announce that using my constitutional privilege I am authorising all powers to convener Dr. Imran Farooq to take whatever decisions to organise and administer the party once again on ideological lines.

Mr. Hussain elaborated that he has made up his mind that the tehreek has to be made an ideological tehreek of 1978, I want to rid the party of Non- ideological and opportunist people. I want those people whose thinking would be ideological who would work to serve larger collective interests rather then the petty self interests.

Mr. Altaf Hussain raised a question before those present that whether do you still want me to lead and guide you? The participants responded positively in one voice and emotion full slogans, “let all the world hear, Altaf is our leader, is clear”.

Mr. Hussain reciprocated that if my people cant leave me than how can I leave them, I will continue to lead you. Mr. Hussain added jovially that from today I have become the Altaf Hussain of June 11 1978 & that you also mentally become workers of 78, if you also continue your support I have the courage to confront impediments like hard and rocky hill.

Concluding his address, Mr. Hussain advised workers and office bearers to improve their conduct & approach over come their humanly weaknesses and deficiencies & organise themselves with altogether a new pledge on ideological basis. Altaf Hussain specifically addressing the newly constituted ad-hoc committee said that they should focus themselves more on ideological work, not be carried away with proud ness and superiority complex, extend all possible assistance to the bereaved families of the martyred workers, party. detunes and their families and all those workers who are in different kind of problems, make decisions on merit and run the tehreek on ideological basis instead of political one. Finally Mr. Hussain prayed to Almighty Allah to bring our tehreek on the rail of ideology. Ending his prayers Mr. Hussain also prayed a get well soon for the ailing Ex-MPA Abdul Qadir Lakhani.
