'Hyderabad rally cancelled in larger public interest'
By our correspondent
KARACHI: Muttahida parliamentary leader Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar, while strongly condemning the government for denying permission to hold public meeting at Hyderabad, has said that it was an illegal, unconstitutional and immoral act of the rulers.
He said that international and local human rights organisations should mobilise opinion against this blatant violation of human rights. He said that Muttahida had made all preparations to hold public meeting but the local administration created a scare and panic among the people, therefore, the public meeting had to be cancelled in the larger interest of the people of Hyderabad.
He said this to various newsmen over telephone. When asked that why this announcement was made all of a sudden, Farooq said that Senator Aftab Sheikh was at present holding the press conference and he must be aware of the factual position. To another question about the public meeting in Karachi, he said that MQM Coordination Committee would take decision in this regard.
