Today, the Police Authorities in Hyderabad have made illegal arrests of Mr. Afzal Shah, MQM Member of Sindh Assembly and Mr. Salahuddin, Hyderabad Zonal Organiser upon their return from the Pacca Qilla.

Once again, the usual and standard tactics of harassment and threats from the local police are used to keep the attendees away from an upcoming MQM public gathering scheduled to be held Friday, August 27, 1999. In order to create a fearful environment, the police has not only arrested Mr. Afzal Shah, MQM Member of Provincial Assembly and Mr. Salahuddin, a Hyderabad Zonal Organiser, but also holding them in CIA custody.

MQM Co-ordination Committee is demanding for their immediate release with the hope that the relevant authorities will consider to take an immediate action to stop the harassment in the neighborhood.
