DELEGATION OF US JOURNALISTS VISIT NINE ZERO

A delegation of US journalists led by Mr Shabbir Cheema, Director Asia Pacific Governance and Democracy Initiative (AGDIA) of East-West Centre Honolulu visited the Head Office of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM).
The delegation included Ms Tara Bahrampour from Washington Post, Mr John Diaz from San Francisco Chronicle, Ms Jenna Fisher from Christian Science Monitor, Ms Larisa Epatko from PBS News Hour, Mr Dan Boyce from University of Montana and Mr Terry Anzur from Media Coach Centre.
Mr Jawdat Bilal, Project Manager, Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) accompanied the delegation.
Deputy Conveners of the Co-ordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar, Senator Mrs Nasreen Jalil, member of the Co-ordination Committee Senator Mustafa Kamal, Mr Wasay Jalil and Mr Kunwar Khalid Younus were present on the occasion.
The History and underlying reasons of violence in Karachi came under discussion during the meeting. The delegation was briefed in detail about the demographic characteristics of the city and the problems being faced by the people in the absence of the local government system.
The guests were presented with the book “My Life’s Journey” and “Pictorial Biography of Altaf Hussain." The delegation also presented a souvenir to the Co-ordination Committee.
