Karachi – 20 April 2004
MQM has announced its candidates for the
forthcoming by-elections. The announcement was made by Mr Anwar Alam, Incharge
of MQM Coordination Committee at the Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall in Azizabad,
Karachi soon after the address of MQM Founder Leader Mr Altaf Hussain. According
to the announcement, for National Assembly seats NA-240 (Pak Colony and Baldia
Town) Abid Ali Umang, NA-243 (New Karachi and Surjani Town) Abdul Waseem, NA-246
(Azizabad) Nisar Panhwar, NA-236 (Sanghar) Dr Ayub Sheikh, for Provincial
Assembly seats PS-127 (Malir) Yusuf Munir Sheikh and PS-31 (Khairpur) Ashfaq
Manghi. Amongst the nominated candidates Nisar Panhwar, Yusuf Munir Sheikh and
Ashfaq Manghi belong to the Interior Sindh Tanzeemi Committee of MQM.
MQM Founder Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has stated that with the blessing of Allah Almighty, the Haq Parast Candidates will emerge victorious in the forthcoming by-elections on 12 May 2004. He said that by electing the Haq Parast Candidates, the people will prove that MQM was strong in the past, and is stronger today and that its popularity continues to increase. Mr. Hussain was addressing a gathering of MQM workers in Azizabad, Karachi. He stressed upon the workers to begin the preparation for the by-elections and organize the voter lists, polling cards and their distribution as well as all other necessary arrangements. He praised the workers for their efforts in the past resulting in success for the Movement and stated that he is looking forward to a demonstration of unity, determination, and dedication in the forthcoming by-elections. He further stated that by electing the Haq Parast candidates, the people of Pakistan will again prove that MQM was not only strong in the past but it is also strong at present. Moreover, there has been no change in its popularity and its message is spreading in every nook and corner of Sindh and indeed in the nation.
