NAWAZ SHARIF GOVERNMENT SEVERS MQM'S WORLDWIDE CONNECTION
Karachi: 17 April 1999
Today, the Nawaz Sharif Government has added further dimension in the repression of the Mohajir nation and the MQM. The Nawaz Sharif Government has disconnected all telephone lines of the Head Office of MQM, generally known as "Nine Zero" in Karachi.
It seems that the Nawaz Sharif Government is now acting with impunity in violating the Constitution of the country and international laws that permits freedom of expression, speech and dissemination of democratic message, political ideology and philosophy.
The members of the MQM Co-ordination Committee are vigorously trying to establish contacts with the Governor of Sindh and other officials for the restoration of the telephone lines. So far neither the Governor nor any other official has responded to the telephone call of the Members of the MQM Co-ordination Committee.
